Enerflex

General HSE Practices

The following are some of the key practices that support Enerflex's HSE program and policies:

  • Communication of expectations is an integral step to succeeding in our HSE initiatives. Our HSE policy outlines our expectations from a corporate level and is endorsed by our senior management. The policy is also supported by our Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Training is provided to all employees to ensure that they are capable of performing their tasks in a safe and effective manner. Employees have an obligation to refuse unsafe work.
  • Safety audits are conducted regularly through our industry association partners and by our corporate HSE group. The audits ensure that each Enerflex branch meets or exceeds industry standards and the Company’s HSE policy.
  • Enerflex has instituted an intensive incident investigation program. When an incident results in injury or illness an investigation commences immediately and a process for corrective action begins.
  • The Enerflex Occupational Health team coordinates pre-placement medical assessments for employees who work in safety sensitive positions. This process is based upon the Physical Demands Analysis of the position and is a benefit for both the employee and the employer.
  • Enerflex has a comprehensive and responsible Drug and Alcohol Policy. This policy requires drug and alcohol testing after all near misses, incidents that cause or have potential to cause injury or harm to the environment, or provide reasonable cause. Employees are not allowed to return to work until they produce a negative test. This policy also provides assessment and treatment for employees with substance abuse problems and the opportunity to continue as productive employees.
  • The responsibility of our HSE initiatives rests jointly with supervisors and employees. Through various methods of communication, the message of responsible HSE commitment and practice is reinforced.
  • Emergency response plans are developed and reviewed annually. These plans support a prompt, reliable response to emergencies.
  • HSE investment is critical to the ongoing success of the program. Goals and budgets are established annually at the corporate level, with input from senior management. Senior management takes vested interest in these goals, as they are a component of their performance evaluations.
  • Our corporate HSE group provides regular HSE performance reports to HSE coordinators, managers and senior management on at least a monthly basis. These reports include leading and lagging indicators.
