Roles and Responsibilities
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Engineering Manager will be expected to provide exceptional leadership to a team of Supervisors overseeing the Document Control, Project Manager (Custom), Project Manager (Standard Product Line), Vessel Design, Project Design and Project Engineering/Coordination Departments.
Duties must be performed consistent with APEGGA Code of Ethics, company mission and values and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Participate and own Engineering Department target setting, budgets and objectives
• Motivate and develop team through mentorship, coaching, training and performance management
• Improve departmental processes, procedures and workflow to optimize engineering deliverables to procurement and production.
• Achieve Key Performance Indicators
• Balance recruitment needs with succession planning and provision of up-to-date systems, tools and procedures
• Ensure compliance with departmental Viper requirements.
• Accountable for ensuring the engineering deliverables and schedules are achieved and that there are cooperative interactions between internal and external customers
• Assume ownership of engineering and project related issues
• Occasionally participate in Sales and Marketing initiatives
• Facilitate Engineering Supervisor Group Meetings
• Assume leadership role in the occasional special project or process improvement initiative
Candidate Profile
• Professional Engineer registered in the Province of Alberta
• Minimum of ten years industry experience with two or more years of supervisory and/or management expereience preferred
• Experience leading large group (department of 50 plus employees) an asset
• A results oriented attititude that can lead, motivate and continually develop a team capable of achieving industry leading results
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Knowledge and experience in gas compression packaging and technology an asset
• Proficiency with scheduling and office software an assett
• An understanding of financial statements and budget management are definite assets
• Excellent time management, organization and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with internal and external customers
