Centurion Project Overview

Designed and quarterbacked by Enerflex, the Centurion Petroleum project in Egypt's Nile delta region just south of the Mediterranean Sea, brought together the services of various Enerflex business units to build a gas processing plant in two phases over a period of just 22 weeks.  The plant was designed to manifold 40 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas, at approximately 1200 psig (pounds per square inch gauge) from wells to separation units.  Compression, dehydration and site metering were also required before sending the gas offsite to the pipeline.

Compression-Dehydration Facility

  • Enerflex was responsible for coordinating the design of the site plot plan, pipe racks and interconnecting piping and equipment foundation design.
  • In the first phase, we designed and supervised installation of all the necessary equipment for treatment of the gas to meet sales requirements.
  • Enerflex fabricated and supplied all process vessels, piping and valves.
  • All components for the plant were built as individual packages that could be connected when delivered to the plant site.
  • The compressor package was designed by Enerflex in Calgary. It consists of an Ariel model JGK/4 reciprocating compressor driven by a Waukesha L7042GSI turbo charged, 12 cylinder natural gas-fueled engine, delivering 1,478 horsepower. The components are mounted on a single-piece steel skid and controlled by a model RC2000 control system. In addition, we also designed and supplied the skid mounted control system.  The financing for the compressor package was also arranged through Enerflex.
  • We supplied a fully furnished, multi-room modular trailer housing a motor control center, automatic power transfer switch, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system, programmable logic control (PLC) system, and two computer work stations for human-machine interface.
  • A high pressure vent stack with integral knockout drum utilizing a water seal and manual CO2 snuffing system was fabricated by Enerflex at its facility in Red Deer, Alberta.
