Specialized Sweetening Industry-Wide

  • Amine Sweetening

    Amine sweetening or a gas sweetening system is a process designed to remove H2S and / or CO2 from natural gas. Amine absorbs both H2S and CO2 from the natural gas in an absorbing tower. Amine laden with H2S and CO2 is regenerated to remove H2S and CO2 contaminants prior to being used again. Enerflex amine systems can achieve treated gas specifications of less than 4.0 parts per million (PPM) H2S, and less than 100 PPM CO2 outlet gas.

    Enerflex can custom-design, engineer, and manufacture modular amine systems up to and beyond 3,200 gallons per minute (GPM). Enerflex can provide standard design options.

  • Hybrid Solvents

    Hybrid solvent sweetening systems remove H2S, CO2, mercaptans, COS, and a variety of other contaminants. The methodology is similar to that of amine sweetening systems where liquid solvents are used to remove impurities from the natural gas stream.

    Enerflex can custom-design, engineer, and manufacture modular hybrid solvent systems.

  • Solid Scavengers

    Solid Scavengers also remove H2S, but require no liquid florates. Instead, sour gas flows through a solid bed of zinc- or iron-based material.

    This solution is ideal for gas streams with low amounts of H2S going down to low specifications or trace levels, and is usually used in smaller sized plants. Even though it requires little operating expense, and has predictable and manageable maintenance costs, it does require a significant capital investment — so talk with an Enerflex expert to see which option is right for you.

  • Lekwair, Oman

    195 MMSCFD Amine Sweetening Plant

    Enerflex supplied two amine sweetening units with a total capacity of 195 MMSCFD. Enerflex was chosen based on their proven history as the single-source solution, providing engineering, design, procurement, coordination, fabrication, inspection, testing, painting, shipment, supervision of assembly, commissioning, performance testing, and operations training.

    Outcome

    Enerflex completed this DEP specification compliant amine sweetening plant safely, under budget, and on-time. This project was a testament of an increasingly long project experience in the Middle East region. By leveraging the Enerflex single-source solutions approach — combining reliable and efficient equipment with in-house expertise, and demonstrating our knowledge of the regional supply chain — we were capable of completing such a complex project with outstanding results.

  • Yapacaní, Central Bolivia

    30 MMSCFD Amine Treatment Plant

    Enerflex successfully delivered a 30 MMSCFD amine treatment facility for operations in the remote gas fields of central Bolivia. This project posed tough challenges, including an aggressive schedule to be delivered by a lean project team. Sourcing project materials and tools were limited at the job site, located over four hours from the nearest city.

    Outcome

    The Enerflex team tackled the challenges of isolation and deadlines, commissioning the fast-track integrated turnkey facility on-time and on-budget. Process units were designed and fabricated at Enerflex’s Houston manufacturing facility, while Enerflex’s Canadian team supplied the generator sets for the project.
